The Teaching, Learning, Assessment, and Accountability department at Pelham City Schools strives to improve student learning by implementing a rigorous, performance standards-based curriculum through best practices teaching and engaging instruction.  It is our goal for all students to graduate on time with the necessary skills to excel in college and/or career.

We set learning objectives for students based upon criteria set forth by the GA Dept. of Education in the Georgia Performance Standards (GPS) and the Common Core Georgia Performance Standards (CCGPS).  Students are assessed using on-going formative assessments and benchmarks as well as state-mandated assessments.  Each school is held accountable using the College and Career Ready Performance Index (CCRPI).

As of March 30, 2012, Georgia was one of only 10 states to have been granted a waiver from No Child Left Behind (NCLB). No longer will Georgia be bound by the narrow definitions of success found in NCLB. The waiver enables the state to hold schools accountable and reward them for the work they do in all subjects and with all students.

Georgia began using the College and Career Ready Performance Index (CCRPI) in SY 2013 for state accountability purposes.  CCRPI is a comprehensive school improvement, accountability, and communication platform for all educational stakeholders that will promote college and career readiness for all Georgia public school students.  The CCRPI has multiple indicators to determine a school’s performance, rather than using a single test score given at one point in time. A numerical score out of 100% will be given to every school in the state and will be based on the following:

• Weighted average of
  • Achievement
  • Achievement Gap Closure
  • Progress
• Achievement is the predominant factor
• Exceeding the Bar Indicators (may earn extra points for excellent work)
