Construction Delay Caused by COVID-19
Result in Later School Start

The modernization of Pelham Elementary Schools is rolling along at an accelerated rate.  And, all indicators have pointed to an on schedule beginning of school.  However, our contractors recently informed us that due to a delay in the shipment of essential building materials caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, Pelham Elementary School will not be ready for the start of school at the regular date.

After consultation with our contractors the Pelham Board of Education has changed the start date for all schools to August 31, 2020.  Pelham City School leaders are working tirelessly to finalize plans that will provide the safest structure possible for students, faculty and staff members.

Plans will include protocols for low, moderate and substantial spread of the Coronavirus.  School will look different.  New rituals and routines will be implemented including wearing masks on buses and in hallways, temperature checks before entering the building and washing hands and using hand sanitizer regularly throughout the day.  Plans are also being finalized for a virtual option.

We have learned through this ordeal that conditions are changing daily due to the spread of the disease.  Therefore, as we continue finalizing plans, we ask for your continued patience and willingness to be flexible as we move forward.
