Pelham Hornet Nation,
I am sure you continue to hear news reports concerning the coronavirus. In fact, just this afternoon, I read where Fulton County Schools was closing due an employee testing positive to the virus.
Our district and school officials continue to monitor the situation as well. The spread of the coronavirus, like other flu type viruses, can be mitigated with preventative steps.
Pelham City Charter Schools has been in communication with our local health department and the Georgia Department of Education and we have distributed information to our schools from the Center for Disease Control.
Additional information is shared as it becomes available. In addition, throughout the year we have shared information that can be used to prevent the spread of flu type viruses.
The measures our district has put in place thus far include educating our faculty, staff and students in healthy, preventative actions and continuing to clean common areas, drinking fountains, door handles and work areas.
In addition, please find below a list of preventative measures that can be done at home and with your family.
- Wash hands frequently with soap and water for at least 20 seconds.
- Avoid Contact with eyes, mouth, and nose with unwashed hands.
- Stay home if you are feeling sick and/or running a fever.
- Cough and/or sneeze into your elbow or tissue to decrease the spread of germs.
As always, the health and safety of your children will always be of utmost importance to me and the Pelham City Schools Charter System. Our district personnel will continue to monitor the situation closely and keep all stakeholders informed of any updated information.
